The Dark Mac Tonight Returns: A Fast Food Parody Comic in Progress
The Dark Mac Tonight Returns is my ongoing comic project — a page-for-page parody of Frank Miller’s The Dark Knight Returns where Batman is McDonald’s. Ronald McDonald steps into the role of Bruce Wayne, wrestling with age, obsolescence, and a city consumed by boutique fast food franchises. If you’re into comics, fast food history, parody art, McDonaldland nostalgia, or even the surreal media chorus of fast food YouTubers and alt-media podcasters, this project is for you.
I’m live streaming the drawing process on YouTube each week so you can watch the pages come to life in real time. For readers and collectors, I’ve made free print-at-home foldout zines available on Patreon. If you want the full story as it unfolds, new pages are posted weekly at the $1 Patreon tier, where you can also download the pages to build your own collection.
This comic blends pop culture parody, fast food mascots, comics history, and today’s media landscape into one project. Whether you love Frank Miller’s gritty storytelling, the surreal world of McDonaldland, or the humor of fast food mascots like Ronald, Grimace, and the Hamburglar, The Dark Mac Tonight Returns brings it all together.
